NEXT IN CHEONGSAM – YOUNG DESIGNER CHALLENGE

SPARKLE x VTC’s HK Design Institute organize “Next In Cheongsam & Next In Chinese Style – Young Designer Challenge” fashion design competition to promote the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the cheongsam, and entice young fashion designers to incorporate East-meets-West design and Chinese chic elements into the art of making cheongsams.

Each year, SPARKLE CHARITY FOUNDATION fully sponsors Next In Cheongsam & Next In Chinese Style – Young Designer Challenge”  – a fashion design competition aimed at encouraging students and graduates of HKDI Department of Fashion and Image Design to fall in love with the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the cheongsam, and provides a glimpse into the future world of cheongsam design.

SPARKLE COLLECTION sets up workshops where students can get an invaluable chance to learn the art of making cheongsam from Cultural Heritage Inheritor Master Fung, so that they can inherit this traditional art, add in East-meets-West design and Chinese chic elements of their own to bring cheongsam into the next generation.
Winners of this competition not only wins a scholarship prize, but also a invaluable opportunity to step foot into the fascinating world of cheongsam design.

NEXT IN CHEONGSAM 2021 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
  1. A cheongsam of original design
  2. The entry design must have modern Chinese chic elements, and Chinese traditional cheongsam elements as design backbone, including but not limited to rolled edging (gun), Chinese flower buttons, Mandarin collar, open front, etc.
  3. Must incorporate East-meets-West design elements
