CHINESE UNICORN

This pattern is inspired by the “Chinese Unicorn Dance”(舞麒麟) which is on display in ICHO - Sam Tung Uk Museum, and is listed as a Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Chinese unicorn is a legendary auspicious animal. In traditional local society, people believe that the Chinese unicorn dance can ward off evil and bring good luck. People therefore pray for blessings through the unicorn dance. Hakka villages in Hong Kong and some local villages in the New Territories perform Chinese unicorn dances to celebrate festivals, birthdays of deities or weddings.
